Description
FreezGone and FreezGone Anti-icing Liquids are designed for use in applications to prevent and eliminate the formation of ice and ice buildup. These products are also suited for use in preventing the freezing of wet commodities to surfaces in handling or transportation, such as in woodchip hauling, and can additionally be used in anti-icing and de-icing applications for road and yard operations.
FreezGone products are manufactured from naturally occurring magnesium chloride liquids that have been fortified with organic corrosion inhibitors for protection of metal surfaces.

Recommended Uses
FreezGone products are recommended for a wide range of uses in situations where the formation of ice causes handling or transportation problems. Their effective anti-bonding characteristics allow for cost savings in production and labour downtime by keeping materials moving freely under winter conditions. In applications at extreme low temperatures FreezGone Plus is the recommended product.
Because of the hygroscopic nature, of FreezGone products are suitable for use in the control of dust problems associated with gravel roads and materials in transport, such as coal. During the warmer months of the year when freezing problems are not of concern, DustGone products are recommended, and can be available with corrosion inhibitors.
Some typical applications of FreezGone products include:
- Woodchip and sawdust trailers.
- Garbage containers and service trucks.
- Rail cars hauling commodities containing moisture or having dusting problems.
- Outside conveyor and belt systems.
FreezGone products may also be used to control ice formation in drains, pedestrian areas, kiln tracks and logging rigging.
Storage Recommendations
FreezGone and FreezGone Plus Anti-icing Liquids can be stored in plastic, stainless steel or non-grounded aluminum tanks that have the capability of containing a product with a minimum specific gravity of 1.30. If product is to be stored for long periods of time without usage, agitation may be necessary.

Description
FreezGone and FreezGone Plus Anti-icing Liquids are low temperature and low corrosion magnesium chloride based anti-icing liquids used for winter road maintenance programs. FreezGone products are manufactured from naturally occurring magnesium chloride minerals from the Great Slat Lake that are fortified with organic corrosion inhibitors for protection of metal surfaces. FreezGone Anti-icing Liquids are approved by the PNS (Pacific Northwest Snowfigthers).
Recommended Uses
Anti-icing liquids have had a positive impact on service levels and operational costs, and are becoming a standard tool in winter maintenance programs with both highway departments and municipalities throughout Canada. There are three primary applications for anti-icing liquids:
Stockpile Treating
Blending anti-icing liquids into sand or salt stockpiles is an excellent and cost effective way to maintain these materials in a free flowing and easy to use condition.
Pre-wetting
Sand or salt pre-wetted with anti-icing liquids will allow these materials to stay in place where applied, activate faster and perform over a longer time period. Substantial reductions in material use and operating costs has been achieved with the implementation of a pre-wetting program.
Anti-icing
Is a proactive maintenance program where the anti-icing liquid is applied to the road surface prior to a storm event to maintain the road in a bare wet condition and prevent an ice bond from forming. An anti-icing program when properly managed will significantly improve service levels and lower operational costs compared to traditional maintenance practices.
